A measure of exposed public keys, not bitcoin already compromised. The total depends on the source’s scope and method.

An attack would require a sufficiently powerful, error-corrected quantum computer. No publicly demonstrated machine can steal these bitcoin. This measurement does not predict when that might become possible.
Structural exposure
— BTC
P2PKP2MSP2TR
P2PK, bare multisig and Taproot P2TR publish keys directly in the output. Refer to the source’s documented classification.

Exposure through reuse
— BTC
P2PKHP2WPKHP2SH / P2WSH
For hashed outputs, an earlier spend may reveal the key or script needed to spend remaining BTC. Receiving repeatedly alone does not establish exposure. This follows the provider’s classification; custom scripts can impose additional conditions.

What this number measures
This measures on-chain public-key exposure at rest. It does not cover every possible attack during spending or keys disclosed off-chain. BTC outside this scope are not certified quantum-resistant.
Bitcoin attributed to Satoshi and exchange balances may already be included: do not add them to this total. Exposure does not mean theft, lost coins or a certain attack.
This metric measures bitcoin the source classifies as exposed at rest because the public keys needed to spend it are already visible on the blockchain. The total depends on the classification method and retains the block height and publication date of the snapshot: it does not count every possible quantum risk or prove that an attack has occurred.
Recovering private keys would require sufficiently powerful quantum capabilities; this page does not predict when that may become possible. Bitcoin outside this measure is not automatically quantum-proof: exposure while spending or outside the blockchain follows other threat models. Bitcoin attributed to Satoshi and bitcoin held on exchanges may be subsets of this total and must not be added again.
